A common misconception about making the switch to a natural lifestyle is that it’s outrageously unaffordable. And yes, I’ll admit, there are some natural brands that are pretty outrageous, but that’s not to say that they all are.
There are affordable natural options out there. I promise.
And to prove my point, I’ve gathered six natural brands that I personally recommend and stand behind, that have great haircare options under $10 USD ($15 CAD).
I couldn’t be more excited to share these brands with you because not only do they have quality natural products, but they also have great values that I believe are important, and I think you will too.
Many of these brands are working hard to make a difference when it comes to the earth, the animals on it, and of course, the people that share it.
Lots of these products are cruelty free, and not tested on animals, which is such a great bonus!
As well, you’ll find these products have different certifications like Gluten Free, Non-GMO, Soy Free, Vegetarian, Certified Organic, and free of parabens and other harmful chemicals. I know you’ll love these brands as much as I do!
Affordable Natural Shampoo
Alba Botanica $7.50 USD
Alba Botanica is a Hawaiian company that truly values natural ingredients. They have no color stripping sulfates or drying salts in their formulas so it’s a great option for colored hair. I’ve used Alba shampoo on and off for a few years now and really love it, it’s a great shampoo at a really great price.
The Ingredients B+
Alba states right on their bottle that they are free of Artificial Colors, Parabens, Phthalates, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate and Sodium Myreth Sulfate. They also do not test on animals and are 100% Vegetarian.
However, they are not a perfect 10 for me because they do use artificial fragrance to get that dreamy smell, which is an ingredient I would rather avoid. But overall, I would recommend this shampoo to anyone wanting quality natural hair wash.
Andalou Naturals $9.95 USD
Another brand that I adore is Andalou Naturals. I fell in love with this brand after using their Lid + Lash Make-Up Remover. I’m excited to try more of their products in the near future!
The Fruit Stem Cell Science is what really takes Andalou Naturals to a level of it’s own. This unique complex is derived from several natural ingredients from around the world to achieve age-defying and nourishing properties in all of their products.
The ingredients A-
There are no ingredients listed that I have on my watch list, and it states on the bottle that they are free of parabens, petrochemicals, phthalates, sulfates, synthetic colors, dyes and fragrances. Not only that, it is Verified Gluten Free, Vegan, Cruelty-Free, and Non-GMO.
The only thing they could improve on is the amount of Certified Organic ingredients. Lot’s of their ingredients are organic, but not all.
If your wanting to try a natural brand, I highly recommend checking out Andalou Naturals, I’m completely obsessed!
The Green Beaver Company $8.75 USD
The Green Beaver Company is a Canadian brand (obvi!) who takes great pride in 100% natural ingredients, ecofriendly options and cruelty-free procedures. The Green Beaver Company never uses synthetic substances in any of their products and chooses only Certified Organic ingredients with the highest standards.
You can see the integrity this brand has and the values it stands for, it’s a real top notch company!
The Ingredients A+
Another top ranking ingredient list, with only the best organic ingredients, there’s nothing to worry about here. I give this ingredient list an A+ because not only do they use only natural ingredients, they also use only 100% Certified Organic ingredients as well. Way to go!
The Green Beaver Company is Cruelty-Free, Vegan, Certified Organic, and recognized by Ecocert (a certification developed to uphold standards for natural and organic cosmetics).
Hugo Naturals $9.99 USD
I’ve just started using the Smoothing Shampoo by Hugo Naturals, and so far I’m definitely a fan! I’ve recently discovered Hugo Naturals products and am excited to try more. Hugo Naturals started out as a small company selling products at the local Farmers Market.
They have since grown but still keep their small company values as their top priority. They are committed to using only food-grade ingredients in their products, and never take short-cuts that undermine their high standards. This is definitely a brand worth looking into!
The Ingredients A-
Hugo Naturals has a great ingredient list on their shampoos. Right on the bottle it states they never add any parabens, phenoxyethanol, sulfates, PEGs, propylene glycol, petroleum products, silicones, phthalates, synthetic surfactants, artificial colors or synthetic fragrances.
Although many of their ingredients are Certified Organic, they are not exclusively organic. But they are Gluten Free, Soy Free, and Cruelty Free.
Jason $8.99 USD
Jason is a relatively inexpensive brand that is sold worldwide. I’ve used a few of their products including their Soothing Aloe Vera Crème, and have been pleased with the quality. What I really like about Jason products is that they can be found in large department stores which may not necessarily specialize in natural products. This makes them a lot easier to come by, and the price tag is low, so it’s a win-win!
The Ingredients B+
Jason products never contain any parabens, SLS, or phthalates and lots of their ingredients are Certified Organic which is great, but they do contain artificial fragrances, which is on my list of ingredients to avoid.
However, Jason is still a great natural brand that is inexpensive and relatively easy to come by. You can find it in large department stores like Target and Walmart throughout North America. So if you’re limited on selection, this could be a great brand to try out.
Kiss My Face $7.95 USD
I’m really excited about this brand, I’ve recently been trying out their Active Life deodorant and have obsessing over it, so I’m super excited to try out more from them, including their shampoo!
I love that Kiss My Face is committed to using post-consumer recycled content for their bottles, and they now source all their bottles, tubes and cans from North American companies. This is a brand that’s been around since the 80’s, back before “natural ingredients” were mainstream, so you know they have great values!
The Ingredients A-
The only hang-up I have with the ingredient list is that they don’t have exclusively Certified Organic ingredients (although much of their ingredients are organic). However, that won’t make or break the sale for me, I still love their products, and what they stand for.
What they do have going for them is that they do not use any parabens, phthalates, SLS or artificial fragrances in their products, and they are Gluten Free, Vegan, and never tested on animals.
As you can see, you can get quality natural products without breaking the bank! There are great natural brands out there that value quality and affordability.
If you try one of these natural shampoos or if you’re already in love with one, let me know! I’d love to hear which are your favorites.
