One of the best places to start you green collection is the bathroom, where all of the products are made to either sit on the skin or be absorbed into your body.
Your soap washes over your entire body and is lathered in your most sensitive areas, that’s not a place you want irritants like fragrance or sulfates.
Replace that Dove bar that’s coated in nasties with something that actually comes from nature.
Brosily Bath and Body create high quality bath and body products like soaps with natural ingredients that you could find in your kitchen cupboards.
Navine, the owner, struggled with finding body care products that would sooth her daughter’s eczema for years. Finally she took matters into her own hands and created a line of body products that nurture the skin instead of irritating it.
She uses her business to make a difference in the world with quality natural products and by donating a portion of her inventory to shelters and Clean The World initiatives for people who don’t have the luxury of regular soapy baths.
Navine generously sent me two of her best sellers to try out. As far as soap goes, these babies are top notch! Thank you Navine, I’m loving your products!
This soap was designed specifically for sensitive skin, with each ingredient carefully chosen for its soothing properties. Hemp seed oil is made up of omega-6 and omega-3 essential fatty acids which are necessary for healthy cell production and good skin. Having too little could mean dry skin, eczema or dermatitis.
Not only does it have great ingredients like hemp seed oil and avocado oil, but is also super silky smooth on my skin! It creates a very luxurious lather and leaves my skin feeling so soft.
The Gentle Touch soap has been left unscented so it’s great if you don’t like to have a lingering smell on your skin, but is anything really unscented? This has a very subtle smell while using it which I find very calming, but doesn’t stick around after you’ve toweled off.
You’ll see the ingredients are mostly oils that you would find in your kitchen cupboards, and are food grade. The only ingredient that isn’t a perfect 1 on the EWG database is Sodium Hydroxide (Lye) which scores a 3 (moderate hazard). However, Navine informed me that there is confusion around Lye in soap-making, so I did some research.
The EWG states that “In a properly manufactured soap, this common raw ingredient completely reacts with oils; none remain in the product. Therefore the hazards associated with sodium hydroxide are not considered relevant”.
Ingredients: Olea europaea (olive) oil, Cocos nucifera (coconut) oil, Aqua (water), Indica seed garcinia (kokum butter), Persea gratissima (avocado) oil, Sodium hydroxide, Prunus armeniaca (apricot) kernel oil, Cannabis sativa (hemp) seed oil, Perilla ocymoides (perilla) seed oil, Hemp milk
I’m all about smell, and this soap has a very deep, luxurious smell. Just like the Gentle Touch Soap, it lathers beautifully and feels so silky on my skin.
This soap is for dry and mature skin, and although my skin isn’t “mature” it is definitely dry. I’ve noticed the Grace Soap hasn’t left my skin super dry like I find most bar soaps do (I tend to stick to liquid body wash) because I hate having that tight-skin feeling after a shower!
Just like the Gentle Touch Soap, the ingredients of the Grace Soap all score great on the EWG skindeep database.
Ingredients: Olea europaea (olive) oil, Cocos nucifera (coconut) oil, Cocos nucifera extract (coconut milk), Daucus carota sativa (carrot) root powder, Indica seed garcinia (kokum butter), Persea gratissima (avocado) oil, Sodium hydroxide, Prunus armeniaca (apricot) kernel oil, Cannabis sativa (hemp) seed oil, Camellia oleifera (camellia) seed oil, Citrus bergamia (bergamot) fruit oil, Citrus grandis (grapefruit) peel oil, Pelargonium graveolens (rose geranium) oil, Daucus carota sativa (carrot) seed oil, Carica papaya (papaya), Organic pumpkin
The Brosily soaps are a very generous size (5 oz bar) and don’t shrink very quickly. I can tell these two bars are going to last me a while!
If you’re looking for quality bath products, definitely check out these soaps from Brosily!
Thanks again to Navine for sending these lovely soaps!
