Clean hair care is just as important as clean makeup and clean skincare. Your shampoo and hair spray may not sit on your skin, but their synthetic fragrance and aerosol spray will most certainly make their way into your body.
So cleaning up your haircare routine is a must.
I’m typically a pretty low maintenance hair care kinda girl, but even though I only use a few products on the daily, I want them to perform well and bring out the best in my hair.
It’s taken a few more months than I would have liked, but I’ve found a handful of amazing hair products that I think should be on every girl’s vanity.
You’ll love their natural fragrance and outstanding performance, and your drugstore haircare days will be behind you for good!

Era Organics quickly jumped to my number one favorite the moment it came in the mail. I was immediately blown away with the delicious smell, then blown away again when I used them for the first time.
If you’re struggling with finding a clean shampoo and conditioner and are missing the mainstream brands, this is the cleanest option (scores a 2 on EWG!!) and the most similar to conventional hair care that I’ve come across.
The shampoo actually foams, the conditioner feels silky, it takes out the tangles instead of causing more, it has the most amazing smell that actually clings to the hair (even on the second day!!) and my hair really feels clean when I get out of the shower! It really is the whole package!
And the best part is, as far as clean hair care goes, it’s affordable. If you’re in the US, you can even purchase it on Amazon with prime shipping! I literally could not praise these two products enough!!
On days when I really want to look my best I spritz this volumizing mist on my damp hair. It makes a tremendous difference in the volume of my hair, and I only use just a few sprays. It’s a bit pricy, but for me it’s not an everyday essential, so it’s worth the price.
To use, just spray on the roots of your freshly washed hair and then blow dry. For maximum volume, I use my round brush at the roots.
If you really want to take care of your hair, put the hot tools down. But if that’s not an option for you (like it isn’t for me) then using a heat protectant on your hair is second best.
Some days I’ll use it as a heat protectant on my damp hair, and some days I’ll also use it once my hair is dried and styled as a hair oil to define my curls. Just a few spritz in my palm then run it through the mid to ends of my hair and it makes my curls really stand out.
On days when I want my hair to have a bit more texture, I reach for my Sea Mist. Just a few spritz and I have more texture and volume in the mid-shaft.
A word of caution, this sea mist (or any sea mist) is extremely drying, so two to three spritz should be plenty. If you overdo it, your hair will start to feel like straw (I’ve learned from experience).
What I like to do is pull part of my hair up and spritz the Sea Mist into my hair, instead of just on the top layer. Then I like to scrunch it to get that volume while the mist is still wet.
This also works great on days that I want to let my natural curl rein. Naturally, my hair has that “beachy wave”, and when I spritz on the sea mist it brings it to the next level.
I love each of these products for their amazing performance and their clean ingredients. Each of them score excellently on EWG and each has a beautiful natural fragrance.
Which are your clean haircare must haves?
