It’s no secret that shampoos and conditioners have been the hardest transition for me from conventional drugstore brands. I miss the way my hair used to feel –so light, bouncy and full of life.
Since making the switch to cleaner options my hair has been quite a bit more dull, tangled, greasy and heavy than ever before.
So needless to say I have been fairly disappointed with clean hair care so far. And a little desperate for something that works.
I’ve even tried hair products that are way outside my cost-comfort zone in an attempt to find something that could compare to my previously bouncy hair. Nope. Fail.
However, as you probably guessed, I’ve found a shampoo and conditioner that actually compares to my previous drugstore finds. But it’s better because it squeaky clean 😉
Beautycounter has been on my radar since my drugstore days but somehow has never made it home with me. So when Melissa, a Beautycounter consultant, wanted to send me some to try out I was stoked!
If you’re new to Beautycounter, I’ll give you the low down: it’s a direct sales company that allows people like you and me to become consultants and make a side income (or fulltime income) by recommending these beautiful products to our friends and peers.
It’s an amazing concept and if you’re looking for a little extra money, I would definitely recommend looking into it.
Plus, who doesn’t like getting together with a bunch of other women, popping a bottle of wine and talking about makeup? Sounds like a partay!
So, a huge thank-you to Melissa for answering my hair prayers with these gorgeous products!
If you’re interested in trying out some of these products, definitely check out Melissa’s website (https://www.beautycounter.com/en-ca/melissamarra) and order through her, all the links in this post will take you directly there.

Volume and Shape Collection
So first of all, I have to talk about how sleek and modern the Beautycounter bottles are! I love the simplicity! Beautycounter’s entire line has a minimalistic design that I adore.
What I noticed right away about the Volume and Shape Shampoo is how little I needed to use. Most clean shampoos that I’ve used are pretty stingy in the lather department, and often times I feel like I need to use more to make up for the fact that it doesn’t foam and spread through my hair easily.
That’s not the case with this Beautycounter shampoo, it lathers exceptionally well so I feel like it’s getting every ounce of my scalp, and I can use a very small amount.
This goes for the Volume and Shape Conditioner as well. It makes my hair feel silky when I apply it in the shower (something I feel is not common among clean conditioners) which makes me feel like I can use a lot less.
I’ve also noticed after using the conditioner I can run a brush through my hair easy and not spend half my life detangling!
And can we take a second to talk about how delicious these products smell!?
That’s another thing I miss about conventional hair products. On a freshly cleaned hair day I used to be able to smell my hair throughout the day whereas with most clean hair products I’ve used, the smell doesn’t last, or isn’t very strong.
But these Beautycounter hair products have a beautiful smell that lasts all day. I’ve even been asked which shampoo I was using by a family member because it smelled so good 😉
Lastly I want to talk about the Volumizing Mist from the collection. I was super excited to try this because I’ve been eyeing some similar products but haven’t taken the plunge because I was worried they wouldn’t preform.
However, I am happily surprised by this mist from Beautycounter. I would definitely say, without a question of a doubt, that this gives my hair extra volume!
It says that you can use it on wet or dry hair and I would say I only notice the extra lift when I spray it on my roots then blow dry my hair. I don’t notice a difference when my hair just air-dries or if I spray it on dry hair.
If you’ve been looking for a volumizing mist, and holding out for one that works –this is it.
Again, a huge thank you to Melissa for sharing these amazing hair products with me! And definitely go enter the giveaway on my Instagram (@sunkissedkateblog) for your chance to try some Beautycounter hair products yourself!
