Life Update: We’re Pregnant!

Happy Saturday everyone! It’s been a while since I’ve sat down and wrote something – life has gotten a little crazy! (as you can probably tell by the title of this post.. 🙂 ) We’ve decided to expand our little family, and ask and you shall receive!

So we have been blessed with a tiny life inside my belly. And although it is tiny, it is mighty! Mighty enough to pretty much leave me tied to the couch living off only dry bread and soda crackers… Gotta love that morning sickness!

With my first pregnancy I suffered from morning sickness pretty bad too, but I feel like this time has it topped. Plus the fatigue. Oh the fatigue!!

I just thank my lucky stars that my daughter is still young enough to be napping twice a day, because seriously, what would I do without my naps??

Truth be told I’ve been wanting to write this little life update for about a month now, but I feel like I’m just coming out of the feeling nauseous all day, napping whenever humanly possible and having absolutely no get-up-and-go each day. So here we are a month later.

But I shouldn’t complain too much, so far this pregnancy has gone pretty well with no major complications. My belly seems to be growing so that’s always a good sign.

I’ve put on pretty much the same amount of weight as my first pregnancy, but with my first I was so so sick in the beginning. So sick that for two and a half weeks if I even sat up in bed I was throwing up. When I finally saw my doctor to get a note for work she said that I was getting dangerously dehydrated and it could end up having negative effects on my baby, so I was prescribed Diclectin.

Let me tell you, I was very reluctant to take those pills. I don’t even think I filled the prescription for a few days. I googled the heck out of it to see if there were any known side effects at all on the baby (almost hoping there were) and there were none.

So I started taking the pills and it relieved the sickness enough that I was able to go to work and pretty much stopped the vomiting which was real nice.

So with this pregnancy I started feeling that same nausea creep in about week five or six and literally didn’t know what I was going to do because lying in bed all day with an eleven month old at home just wasn’t going to cut it.

It hit and I literally couldn’t get out of bed. My husband was home with Nataleigh and thank goodness he was because I pretty much didn’t see the light of day for three days. When he had to go back to work I didn’t know how I would even get a meal on the table for my daughter or change her diaper, let alone be her entertainment all day. #momlife

So I made an appointment right away with my doc and she fixed me up with Diclectin again. This time I was quite a bit less reluctant to take it, given my situation.

Honestly, if you’re suffering with extreme morning sickness I would definitely think about taking Diclectin. It really took the edge off my nausea and although I wasn’t feeling back to normal by any means it did stop the vomiting and I was at least able to keep down some food and liquid.

And here we are a few months later. I was able to ween off the medication about three weeks ago and I’m not needing to constantly nap anymore and besides my pants not fitting I’m feeling much more back to normal.

For anyone who’s curious (because I know I’ve been that person) I’m 18 ½ weeks along, have put on 4 lbs (down 1 lb from last time around), felt the first kick at 17 weeks 4 days (last time was 18 weeks 6 days), and current cravings are fruit, fruit, and more fruit (just like last time!). And nothing else really note-worthy so far.

I was thinking about doing a pregnancy update about every month, and since I’m 4 ½ months now, I may wait until 6 months to do another update or I may just do another in two weeks – haven’t decided yet.

So anyways, I’m really hoping to get back into the swing of things here in blog land and get out at least one or two posts a week because I’ve been missing you! And there’s a ton of things I’ve been dying to share and talk about!

And now that you’re in the loop I’m excited to share some pregnancy posts and if I go MIA again you’ll have a pretty good idea why. And if I do you may be able to find me on Instagram (@kate_sunkissed), I usually keep up to date on there.

And if there is anything you’re wanting to read a post on, just let me know in the comments or hit me up on the contact page 🙂

I hope you’ve been doing well and hope to see you again real soon!
