Mapleblume is a luxury green beauty subscription box created in Toronto, Ontario by twin sisters Sarah and Holly. These two put together a beautiful box of five or more full sized green beauty must-haves and cult favorites that ship out every two months.
I absolutely adore the June Mapleblume Beauty Box! They have stunning products from new (to me) Brands that I’m excited to try, and Brands that I’ve had my eye on for months!
Subscription boxes are a great way to discover green beauty brands and products without the hassle of picking through each ingredient label to figure out if they are as clean as they say they are. Mapleblume has done all the research for you!
It’s also a great way to save money on your green beauty collection. The Mapleblume box is filled with luxury brand (with luxury price tags) but you always get much more than you pay for when you subscribe to the beauty box, and they always sneak in a few discount codes to use if you love what you’ve tried!
Sarah and Holly generously sent me the June beauty box to try out and share with you. I’ve discovered a few new gems and have got to try something that’s been on my wish list for months! Thank you ladies!!
This is a super creamy lip tint in a deep red color. It comes in this beautiful thick glass jar that feels so expensive, and is super cute. You get a pretty decent amount of product too, it’s 5 ml, or .17 fl oz. and it has a subtle minty smell. Say no more, I’m obsessed!
Lip tints are great for those days you want to wear something cute on your lips but don’t want to be so bold as to wear a lipstick. This lip tint is extremely buttery and fells super moisturizing on my lips. If you’re into lip tints, definitely check this one out!
The ingredients are awesome as well, most are either organic or wild crafted and they use essential oils to get that minty fresh smell. I’m super intrigued by this Brand and will definitely be checking out more from their line!
Ingredients: Castor bean oil*, Olive oil*, Coconut oil*, Beeswax, Mixed tocopherols (Non-GMO Vitamin E), Alkanet root*, Elder Berries*, Calendula*, Bilberries*, Hibiscus*, Essential oils of: Peppermint*, Sea buckthorn CO2*, Vanilla Total CO2*, Rosemary antioxidant CO2*
This mascara has the most expensive feeling packaging I’ve ever seen on a mascara. It’s a metal tube and makes it fell very luxurious!
You should know that I’m pretty particular about my mascara, so when I saw that this had a curved wand I was like hold on!
At first I was a bit hesitant about the curved wand and it took me a few applications to get used to it, but it’s actually not bad. I feel like the curve really helps to separate my lashes and even my husband said they look less clumpy than normal.
Plus the tip being curved really helps to get into the inner and outer corners of my lashes to create a very full look. If the curved wand turns you off, give it a few days and you may find you really like it.
They really nailed it on the formula too. It’s not clumpy, doesn’t flake, lasts all day, everything you’d want in a mascara. It doens’t come off at night as easily as my Lily Lolo Mascara, but you can’t have it all, right. I’d give the formula a five star for sure.
Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Oryza Sativa Wax (Rice Bran Wax), Olea Europea fruit oil (Olive Oil), Vegetable Source Cetyl Alcohol (Coconut), Coernica Cerifera (Carnauba Wax), Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla Wax), Vegetable Glycerin, Stearic Acid, Acacia Gum, Black Iron oxide (CI 77499), Aminomethyl Popandiol (Ph Adjuster), Phenoxyethanol (Preservative).
This stuff is amazing!! Definitely found myself a new favorite in this box!
First off, the smell!
It has the most beautiful and delicious citrus smell, I just want to eat it up.
The Lotion Body Scrub is a sugar scrub combined with skin-loving oils to create a lotion that makes your skin unbelievably soft. I’ve used it in the shower as a full body scrub, and lately I’ve left it by my sink to use on my hands and it makes them baby soft.
Vo Bath Co. is another brand that’s new to me that I am very intrigued by. It was established in 2014 in Toronto and they make soaps, body oil and scrubs with natural ingredients.
The ingredients are all excellent except for Emulsifying Wax which scores a moderate hazard on the EWG.
Ingredients: Butyrospermum Parkii (Fair Trade Shea Butter, Theobroma Oil (Cocoa Butter), Organic Sugar, NF Emulsifying Wax (vegetable based thickener), Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Rosemary Extract, Grapeseed Extraxt, Grapeseed Oil, Jojoba Oil, Lemon Essential Oil, Tangerine Essential Oil, Grapefruit
I’ve been dying to try anything from the Laurel collection for so long! It’s incredibly high quality skincare and comes with a fairly high price tag, which is another reason why the Mapleblume Beauty Box is amazing!
The Antioxidant Facial Serum is made for all skin types to nourish, plump and restore skin, making it an excellent anti-aging serum for anyone. It also contains ingredients that have been linked to sun protection, so it would be great under makeup or on no-makeup days.
This serum feels very hydrating, I usually feel like I need to add a moisturizer after I apply a serum but this one quenches my skin. My favorite time to apply it is at night so I wake up to amazingly soft and hydrated skin.
Laurel Whole Plant Organics is very intentional about each ingredient they use and that they source their plants locally and process them themselves to ensure quality. Not surprisingly, the ingredients all score perfectly on the EWG database.
I’m very excited about this serum! It’s the beginning of my beautiful Laurel collection.
Ingredients: Jojoba Oil, Rosehip Seed Oil, Red Raspberry Seed Oil, Borage Seed Oil, Evening Primrose Oil, Almond Oil, Cranberry Seed Oil, Sesame Oil, Pomegranate Seed Oil, Seabuckthorn Oil, Tamanu Oil, Rosemary Extract; in-house biodynamic proprietary blend of Gotu Kola, Calendula, Comfrey, Nettle, Chamomile, Licorice, Red Clover, Lemon Balm, Astragalus, Yarrow, Elderflower, Horsetail; essential oil blend of Neroli, Sandalwood, Rose, Jasmine, Carrot Seed, Myrrh, Frankincense
This is my first experience with a micro exfoliate and it’s pretty neat. First of all, this exfoliate is like a mousse, it’s super lightweight and looks like it’s full of air bubbles -super cool.
It’s got a strong smell, but I didn’t notice it too much when I was using it on my skin. Using the micro exfoliate feels very different than a regular exfoliate, it’s much more gentle but still feels like it’s cleaning out my pores.
Ingredients like Moroccan Red Clay, Geranium and Papaya draw out toxins and balance the skin while replenishing it with rich micro-nutrients. It says this exfoliate will help minimize the appearance of pores, relieve acne and eczema and dissolve dead skin cells. Sounds like a win to me!
The ingredients are vegan and almost completely organic or wildcrafted. Emulsifying Wax rates a moderate hazard on the EWG database but all of the other ingredients score a 1 or 2. Except Vitamin A which scores a 9.
I don’t believe there is reason to be alarmed, the EWG explains Vitamin A and its derivatives “may speed the development of skin tumors and lesions on sun-exposed skin”, as indicated by a study conducted in 2010 by the FDA.
This is an exfoliate, which you don’t use while being exposed to sun, so I would say that the risk doesn’t apply to this product.
Ingredients: Aloe Vera Juice*, Olive Oil*, Amorphous Silica, Moroccan Red Clay, Kaolin Clay, Rooibos Tea Extract*, Vegetable Emulsifying Wax, Vegetable Glycerin, Sandalwood Powder*, MSM (Methylsulfonomethane), DMAE (Dimethylaminoethanol), Pomegranate Extract*, Green Papaya Extract*, Pineapple Extract*, Papaya Extract*, Coconut Oil*, Jojoba Oil*, Full Spectrum Vitamin E, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Vitamin C Ester, Vitamin B Complex, Vitamin A, Rosehip Oil, Evening Primrose Oil, Cranberry Seed Oil, Carrot Oil, Xanthan Gum, Proprietary Blend of Pure Steam Distilled Essential Oils*.*Certified Organic or Wildcrafted Ingredients
