Matise Aromatherapy was born from the passion of nature and the senses. Nerissa, the founder, has had a love affair with nature long before she ever set foot on the skincare scene.
And when she did, she centered her business around invigorating the mind, body and spirit by making products that love the skin. Her motto is “gifts of nature” and only uses the most sought after healing botanicals and purest essences.
Matise has one of the most pure ingredients of all the brands I’ve used. Check the ingredients of any of the products in this post and you’ll see what I mean, she uses 100% natural ingredients.
Matise Aromatherapy is made in the Eastern Townships (Cantons de l’Est) of Quebec, Canada, so a distant east coast neighbor to me here in British Columbia. I’m so excited to be supporting a fellow Canadian spread the love of green beauty and clean products!
Nerissa generously offered to send me her Chamomile Deep Cleansing Oil, and I was thrilled! But instead sent me my very own Matise collection! She also sent my a little bag of dried flowers that smelled up my whole house!
I’m so thankful for the opportunity to try these Matise bath and body products and am so excited to share them with you! (Discount Code at the end of the post!!)
When you think of a cleanser you probably think of foaming soaps and abrasive scrubs. But not all cleansers are made with those beliefs in mind.
If you’ve never heard of cleansing oil you should check it out, it’s a whole new way to clean your face, and I’m a huge fan. It may seem a little backwards to wash your face with oil, but once you know how it works, you’ll see it’s a much gentler way of cleansing.
Matise Aromatherapy has three options for oil cleansers; Chamomile, Neroli, and Lavender. Each is specifically designed for a certain skin type, mine is more on the dry side so Chamomile is my best bet.
Ingredients: Infused sweet almond oil, chamomile botanical extract, organic chamomile flower oil, ylang-ylang flower oil
I’ve talked about how important scent is to me before, it can’t be too strong and the right smell can change everything. Well, trust me when I say Nerissa is a scent goddess, each product I’ve tried has a beautiful, subtle smell that is soothing and refreshing.
The Chamomile Deep Cleansing Oil is thick and luxurious and feels very soothing on the skin. I like to let it sit on my face with a hot cloth over to help the oil get deep into my pores. Using an oil cleanser at the end of the day is like a mini spa treatment, I love it!
Again, Nerissa has nailed it with the subtle aroma of this beauty balm. It’s sweet with a bit of a minty note, it’s perfect.
This beauty balm is a really thick, creamy, oily balm. It’s incredibly hydrating, and is easy to smooth into my skin. I’ve been using it as a body moisturizer and as a day and night cream for my face. On the Matise website she lists seven uses for the beauty balm, including a make-up remover and to heal minor cuts and bruises. Pretty cool!
I like to use a really moisturizing cream on my face at night because it tends to get dry. This balm is perfect for that because it’s so thick that it keeps my skin hydrated all night.
Ingredients: infused oils, macadamia nut, sweet almond oil, soy butter, mango butter, organic beeswax, lemongrass oil, sweet orange oil, infused calendula flowers
I also like to apply it in the morning under my make-up. I like my skin to look dewy, so this is perfect to give me that glow under my foundation.
After a shower, I pretty much bathe in this stuff. I love it because it soaks into my skin slowly so the moisture lasts for hours. The only place I don’t apply it is on my hands, it’s a bit too oily and takes too long to soak in (I’m really not that patient).
There’s just something about applying a lip balm with your finger, am I right?
This little lip pot is super cute and perfect for in your bag or just around the house. I feel like this lip balm stays on my lips longer than others, and it’s super smooth and luxurious feeling on my lips.
Ingredients: shea butter, jojoba oil, soy butter, mango butter, beeswax, avocado oil, castor oil, ylang ylang flower oil, chamomile flower oil
Probably my favorite out of the bunch was the bath bomb. Unfortunately it got a little smooshed on the way here, but that didn’t hinder its ability to turn my bath into a spa!
I’m usually not a fan of baths (who has that kind of time) but I’m sure glad I took the time to relax in the tub. I’m a Mom, and part of the job is not having much alone time, so instead of taking a bath when my kids went to bed, I invited my daughter in the bath with me and we enjoyed the bath bomb together.
It was so cute that I have to insert a photo (from my cell so not the best quality) . She loved it at first, but then she started to get leery of the floating lavender. Then when she noticed one on her hand that was the end of it, on came the tears and the lavender had to get pushed to the other end of the tub.
When we got out our skin was so soft! If you try anything from Matise, try a bath bomb (and the oil cleanser!)
Ingredients: Tea Tree & Lavender, clay, dead sea salt, witch hazel, sodium bicarbonate, citric acid
