Pacifica Stellar Gaze Mineral Mascara

I’ve been on the hunt for a good natural mascara for some time. Even before I made the switch to natural products, I’ve always been super picky with my mascaras. I want my lashes to be the star of the show, I like a natural face of makeup and I want my eyes to really pop.

If you’re not familiar with Pacifica, it’s a brand that you should keep an eye out for. They are a cruelty free, vegan and conscious brand with a wide range of products including makeup, skincare, bath and body products and perfume.

Stellar Gaze Mascara

I’ve tried a variety of mascaras at different price points, and Pacifica’s Steller Gaze Mascara come in about midway at $14 USD ($ 18 CAD). The formula is infused with coconut oil and vitamin B to “hydrate each lash as it lengthens, strengthens and adds volume”, sounds like a good deal.

I have no complaints with the ingredient list, it complies with my ingredients to avoid, but I would always recommend doing your own research if you have certain ingredients that you prefer to avoid.

Ingredients: Aqua, glycerin (vegetable), glyceryl stearate se, jojoba esters, tapioca starch, stearic acid ( vegetable), copernicia cerfera (carnauba) wax, euphorbia cerifera (candelilla) wax, arabic/acacia gum, acrylates, crosspolymer, potassium cetyl phosphate, microcrystalline cellulse (plant), cocos nucifera (coconut) oil, panthenol (vitamin b), cellulose gum, gluconolactone, macrocystis pyifera (brown kelp) extract, hydrolyzed oryza sativa (rice) protein, sodium benzoate, iron oxides c1 77499.

The Stellar Gaze Mascara comes in two shades, Supernova (black) and Stardust (brown). I picked up the brown. I don’t usually go for a brown mascara, but shopping with a toddler sometimes causes one to grab whatever and get the heck out of the store, so brown it is.

You’ll notice right away that the wand is quite large and bulky, I wasn’t sure how that was going to go over but after using it, I’m definitely a fan. It has densely packed bristles on a fairly long wand that applies the mascara really smoothly.

I just think the consistency of the Stellar Gaze mascara is on point! It’s not so runny that the first few applications are nearly impossible, and it’s not so pasty that it causes clumps, they’ve really found a happy medium.

If you’re looking for a natural-looking mascara, this is your stuff. It makes my lashes look wispy and delicate with the first coat, but if I add a few more coats, it gives me great length and enough volume to impress.

If you want a more dramatic lash, the key is definitely how much you apply. Don’t expect the drama without a few coats (I apply about 3 to get the length and volume that I like).

What I really love about the formula is that it lasts all day with no flakes. It’s nowhere near waterproof, even the slightest bit of water will cause it to run. That being said, it’s super easy to remove at the end of the day, it doesn’t stick to my lashes at all.

The Pros

I’ve rounded up the pros and cons of the Stellar Gaze Mascara:

Formula consistency. They nailed this! Not too runny, not too pasty, goes on so smoothly!

The Wand. It’s bulky but don’t let that scare you, it works like a dream.

The Price. You’ll love the price of this mascara, about $14 USD ($18 CAD)

No Clumping, No Flaking. This mascara lasts all day without any trouble.

Easily Removable.  At the end of the day, no scrubbing required.

The Cons

Not Waterproof. If you plan on getting caught in the rain, this isn’t your mascara.

Natural Looking Lashes. If you’re looking for dramatic, WOW lashes, be prepared to pile on a few coats.

The Labeling on the Packaging. It isn’t very clear on the packaging what color the mascara is, I ended up with a brown when I would have preferred a black, so double check if you’re making the purchase.

Final Thoughts

The Stellar Gaze Mascara is definitely a mascara I would recommend to someone who likes to switch between a natural lash and a voluminous lash. It goes on seamlessly and makes my lashes look stellar. If you like your lashes to steal the show with extreme volume and really carry that WOW factor, you’ll definitely need a few coats.

I like wearing this mascara on days when I don’t feel like wearing a lot of makeup, the brown especially looks good on those days. Then on days when I want to WOW I just use a heavier hand and voila!

If this sounds like the kind of mascara you’d like in your makeup collection, you can find it here ($11 USD), or here ($16 CAD) for my fellow Canadians.

Have you used this mascara before? What did you think?
